With reference to your letter of the 23rd
January, regarding the situation at Macas, I am
commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty
to forward herewith, for the information of the
Secretary of State for the Colonies, copy of a
telegram, dated 24th January, which has been sent
in sypher to the Commander in Chief, China (No.578),
and repeated to the Commodore, Hong Kong (No.313),
in this connection.
